Please note: Due to the exhaustion of allocated funds on 25th October 2024, the government is not accepting any further applications for the rebate.

The Queensland Government is making it easier for residents to buy e-bikes and e-scooters! Starting from September 23, 2024, eligible buyers can claim $200 for e-scooters and $500 for e-bikes. Just purchase an eligible e-bike or e-scooter and fill out a quick application here to get your rebate.

What makes you eligible?

It couldn’t be easier to meet the eligibility criteria for this rebate! But that’s also the catch. Since it’s so easy to qualify, the $2 million fund allocated to this e-mobility rebate scheme will run out fast. So, if you’re thinking of applying, don’t wait around. Queensland is a massive state, and plenty of people are looking to save some cash.

Don’t waste time trying to figure out which e-scooter or e-bike is eligible—we've already done that for you! Our team of experts has made sure the process is as smooth as possible.

Now, let's talk about what actually makes you eligible:

  • You must be over 18 and a Queensland resident.
  • The e-scooter or e-bike must be brand new and bought from either an Australian e-commerce site like ours or a Queensland-based retailer like, well, us- we have stores too.

For those of you living in NSW, if you’re thinking about using this scheme, we hate to break it to you, but you can’t. Being a Queensland resident is a must. Simply buying from a Queensland store won’t cut it. If you’re still unsure, take a moment to reread the eligibility criteria. You need to be a Queensland resident to qualify!

Nothing matters less to a supplier than whether you qualify for the rebate. So be cautious about anyone who’s just trying to make a sale by telling you their e-bike or e-scooter is eligible. Here’s the thing—you won’t even be able to claim the rebate until after you’ve made the purchase, so be smart about who you trust.

Make sure you buy from someone reliable, like, oh, I don’t know, maybe someone who’s taken the time to lay out all this information for you so you can actually hold them accountable. We’re here to make sure your ride is eligible while you ensure your own eligibility- so together we can try and save those $200-$500 for you! Stick with trustworthy sellers who have your best interest at heart, like us. 😉

What if you're not eligible?

It’s important to note that if you don’t meet the criteria, it's fine! We have a wide range of affordable and long lasting ebikes and escooters, if you're in the market for an electric ride.

Although the eligibility criteria for e-scooters and e-bikes differ, there are a few basic rules that apply to both.

The scooter or e-bike must:

  • Be brand new (not used or sold before).
  • Fit the definition of an e-bike or e-scooter (see Section 12 of the Guidelines).
  • Be limited to a top speed of 25 km/h under motor power.
  • Have a battery management system.
  • Come with a charger that has the compliance mark and is registered on the Electrical Equipment Safety System database.

What this also means is that, if you get your speed uncapped (which you legally can, for use solely on private property), your ride will not be eligible.

  • Designed for One Person: E-scooters must be intended for single-user operation.
  • Wheel Arrangement: They must have either:
One wheel in the front and one or two in the back, or
One or more wheels in the front and one in the back.
  • Speed Limitation: The electric motor must stop working if the scooter goes over 25 km/h.
  • Steering: E-scooters must be steered using handlebars.
  • Footboard Support: They should have a footboard that is supported by the wheels.
  • Size and Weight Limits: E-scooters must not exceed:
    Length: 1,250mm
    Width: 700mm
    Height: 1,350mm
Weight: 60 kg (when not carrying a person or load).

To be eligible as an electric bicycle, an e-bike must be classified as an electrically powered cycle (EPAC) with a maximum continuous rated power of 250 watts. The power output must progressively decrease as the bike’s speed goes above 6 km/h and must cut off when either:

  • The bike reaches a speed of 25 km/h, or
  • The cyclist stops pedalling, and the speed exceeds 6 km/h.
